Disclaimer: I received this product for free through Influenster's VoxBox program. I was not compensated for this review and all opinions are my own.
Let me start out by saying, I tend to be a little... "detail-oriented". The little things matter, I obsess over accuracy, you get the idea. This is all the more true in regards to this pregnancy and the health and safety of our baby. I did a lot of research on thermometers after finding out we were expecting, so when I was contacted to review this Braun thermometer, I was more than willing!
Since our baby isn't due for another six days, I tried this thermometer out on myself. As you can see above, I'm actually getting over a bit of a cold, so this worked out well. Here is what I loved about it:
1. It's fast
Like I said, our baby isn't here yet, but I love knowing I won't have to worry about not getting an accurate reading if he won't sit still for long. You get a clear read-out in seconds!
2. It's accurate
This thermometer tests the temperature of the tissue around your eardrum. This helps ensure accuracy because the blood supply to the eardrum and brain are shared, giving you a great representation of your core body temperature. Also, Braun thermometers are the #1 brand among Doctors and Pediatricians!
3. It remembers your last reading
I really love this feature. When you turn on the thermometer, it will display the last reading you took. This way you don't have to worry about forgetting, it remembers for you!
Drawbacks:
1. Lens Filters
To be clear, these aren't really a bad thing. In fact they're pretty awesome because they help keep things clean and hygienic. That being said, they are something to consider before buying this thermometer as each refill box will run you around $10, and if you run out, the thermometer won't work until you buy more.
Overall, I love this thermometer. I feel very confident using it on our baby once he gets here (and his ears get big enough.) It's a nice feeling knowing you have a product you can rely on when your baby isn't feeling well, and this is something we are going to keep handy while our son is growing.
