For the past six months, I've been scouring the gulf coast for a baby book that I don't absolutely hate. I've purchased two and tried to make two myself, all were failures. I had almost given up when I saw this adorable thing while out buying laundry detergent:
I love it! It's called Baby's Record Book and it's everything I wish I could make with my own two hands, but now don't have to. What can I say, sometimes not having to do the work is pretty nice.
I also got a few new cloth diaper purchases in the mail. We're planning on using mainly prefolds/covers when Baby J is a newborn, so I've been stocking up on those. It's slow-going, especially since I'm not really sure what brands to buy, but our stash is getting there. This time I ordered 4 covers and 6 prefolds. There are only 3 covers shown in the photo because I accidentally ordered the second Thirsties in a size 2, so it won't be much use for a while. Oops.

The prefolds are Osocozy, and as you can see, are already a little pilly from prepping. I'm not too worried about it though, they've gained so much absorbency in the 5 washes we put them through that a little wear and tear seems worth it. I have a dozen GMD orange edge prefolds on the way to me that I found on Cloth Diaper Trader too.
The covers (left to right) are Econobum newborn in Sassy, Imagine newborn in Emerald, and a Thirsties Duo Wrap size 1 in Blackbird. Obviously I haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but I think just from first impressions that the Thirsties is my favorite. The other two were cheaper and definitely feel that way. Plus, I'm really not an aplix fan. D asked if we could get a few to try out so I agreed, but the sound is like nails on a chalkboard to me.
We also picked up the changing pad and cover for our changing table. Nothing fancy, just what they had at the store that was gender neutral.

Since we're on the subject, what type of diapers did you use for your newborn? What worked and what didn't?
